A Tourist in Europe Spring 2025. Lauara’s Retirement Tour!

Leaving Summit County Winter and trying Winter in Zurich instead.

We left our Tourist town (Summit County) to try some of Europes famous tourist towns. The start of our 2 month adventure was Zurich Switzerland.  The week before we got there Zurich was having the first days of spring. We were able to bring cold and rain with us for the couple of days there.  Truthfully it was still snowing at home. I was able to buy a lovely sweat shirt and wool hat for my troubles.

We stayed at the fabulous Neues Schloss Privat Hotel (part or the Marriott Autograph series).  This hotel had amazing service and atmosphere. Every one was very helpful and when Laura told the manager she was there to celebrate her retirement they sent up a nice bottle of bubbles and an awful lot of Swiss chocolates.

We have now been to both Geneva and Zurich, they are so different, Zurich more French while Zurich was Austrian/German. The food was much heartier and a greater selection of local Beer.

One of the dishes Laura was looking foward to was Zurich-Style Veal with Creamy Mushroom Sauce (or Züricher Geschnetzeltes). We found a neat little brew/gastro pub near the hotel (Resturant Swiss Chuchi and Barfly Z).

Our walking tour started in the train station where they were setting up a giant food truck party. We did end up back there for some treats.

Rainy and cold but I highly recomend Zurich to all my fellow travelers. A very easy walking city, lots to see and do. Great food and drinks. It is not as expensive as Geneva, but it is trying to keep up so keep a budget in mind and expect to exceed it.
