What Does in person meeting look like?
At the end of January 2021, I along with 40 fellow travel agents went to our annual travel convention at Disney World Florida, at the Yacht Club convention center. We were required to follow all of Disney’s Covid protocols, including wearing a mask during the indoor portions of the meeting. Each participant was seated at least 6 feet apart, we were in a room that could have fit 15X more people. Presenters were unmasked and the room was sanitized between sessions. The meeting was less fun than in previous years and changes were made to most if not all of the proceedings.
My wifes’ Accounting firm also met in Las Vegas during this same time period to choose a new managing partner. Their meeting was at Green Valley Ranch just outside of Las Vegas. They also followed local regulations. Both meetings were successful, though meals and socializing were very restrained.
Why have a meeting and why now?
It is time to get out in front of your competition. Zoom meetings do not give you a reading of the room. Your employees need to see their peers and work on the social skills (dressing, shaving, showering) that have disappeared during the pandemic! It is a great time to get conference rates that have not been seen in years. Vegas is very responsive to meeting requests. DisneyWorld had sanitation and safety measures that the entire world would have been smart to copy.
