From the Airport to the Hotel.

You are now off the plane a little frazzled by the experience, now hopefully the concourse is empty because you are going to have to get your luggage. Everyone in baggage thinks its 2019, but you don’t have to, Give yourself some space, let the luggage tour the carousel a couple of times and when there is a good break in the action grab your bag and head to the rental desk. Hopefully you got a Rental Car Rewards card and you can skip the (socially distant except for the kids that keep running up to mom with another question) line. Either way the car companies have found it wise like the airlines that they are better off if no ones Covid-19 gets traced back to them. The cars are clean from the floor, to the glove boxes, and even the ashtray and you can feel comfortable again. Once you talk to the rental booth person you can remove the mask and hit the gas. For out June trip the drive to Disney was easyyyyyyy. No one on the road yet it was a little odd, it it got odder when we got to the park. The main Disney highway World Drive was empty, like just us and one of the employee’s , it was like driving at Daytona! The Disney Speed Way, I don’t think anyone has gone faster than 35 on that road and I got passed doing 80 (good times). Don’t forget the best thing about touring now is it is you and a couple of other folks, you get to see things by yourself.t tp see things by yourself.

My wife by her lonesome on the boardwalk!
Disney had only opened the DVC resorts and they were full to less than 20%. The Cast members had just started coming back to work and the parks were not opened yet. The NBA was getting ready to move in but were not there yet. We stayed at Animal Kingdom (our home resort) thinking that if there was nothing to do we could sit on the balcony and watch the animals. We were right there was not a lot to do and we looked at a lot of animals.

The Restaurants at the resorts were mostly open and Disney Springs was completely open. It was very interesting being at Disney with no park pressure. lots of wandering, lots of resort hopping and we even ventured off property (wait what, yep we saw small pieces of Orlando).

Central Florida’s largest Winery and a restaurant without a mouse!

The Staff at Disney was nice and also strict about the Mask. You had to wear it anywhere you might get within 6 feet of somebody, including the pool. The pool was interesting, you could tell everyone knew the new rules, as soon as you got out of the water you were asked to put your mask on. Then a thunder crack came all the lifeguard’s stood up blew their whistles and closed the pool. They announced that everyone needed to get out of the pool and all must leave the pool deck immediately. Well, there were a good 100 people at the pool who rushed the 2 exits just like the good ole days. One of the Cast members walked over to us and mentioned we need to leave the pool deck as we were hanging back and I pointed out that all the distancing they had done was shoved aside now. She looked and said we are going to need to do something about that, so I’d be interested in any Disney pool closing stories you all have.
Our trip was fantastic, we were generally comfortable both on Disney property and off. We got to see the new Margaritaville resort nearby Disney and will be visiting the parks starting tomorrow, I will let all you all know what’s going on down there now and how comfortable you can be.
