All Aboard The Ama Kristina!

Our 8 day cruise started off ominously, Our train from Barcelona to Lyon was cancelled last minute due to a train strike in France. We had about 10 hours to find a way to Lyon, Luckily we found Vueling Airlines (Spirit Airlines says Vueling is cheap), We got to sit on the runway for 3 hours, thanks to the French Air Traffic Controllers who staged a short work stoppage. Well we made it to the ship in time for the sail away party, which was kind of funny since we were overnighting in Lyon. The welcome aboard was nice our cruise director Dragon, told us much of what we needed to know, including to sign up for the Captains table dinner. The AmaKristina holds 165 passengers there were 116 on our cruise. It never seemed or was crowded including meals and happy hour.

I’m a big guy but the rooms were ok for me. I fit pretty well and there was plenty of storage, our room had both a French balcony and regular balcony. We never used the French balcony. We really used to other one. The plugs were all European and there were plenty of them, the complementary WiFi was excellent. Ama includes multiple free tours at each stop from leisurely to very active. We were among the younger people on the ship which was oft putting early, but we were able to make plenty of cruise buddies. Whats included with your base fare, all dining, drinks with lunch and dinner and a hosted happy hour each day before dinner. All tours were included as well as the captains table dining including the wine. Not included were tips and drinks at other times. Drink prices were very reasonable and for an 8 day cruise our additional bar tab was less than $50 total for both of us. You really never have to go into your pocket while on the cruise. This was also the first time we never ate off of the ship.  The food was really that good.
