The Bar at Palm Court, Netherland Plaza Hotel, Cincinnati
The Art Deco beauty sits miles from the Xavier campus and a world away. Opened in 1931 it is the epitome of opulence (spell it I don't even know what it means). Palm fringe an octagonal bar you have walked into the Great Gatsby. Try the mezcal, honey dew, and lemon "Quite Contrary" and your day will take a turn for the better.
Redwood Room, The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel, San Francisco
Lady Gaga has to step up her game to go strutting into this Glamorous joint. Opened right after prohibition (right) a lotta pretty famous blokes and dames have rested their feet here. Dress nice kids or they give you the heave-ho. A bar chiseled from an 800-year-old Redwood will have you bellying up for the long haul. Make mine a Mr. Clift (a snazzy manhattan). They got some good rot gut here.
The Carousel Bar & Lounge, Hotel Monteleone, New Orleans
Step into this place as Covid was being shown the door and see that Lena Prima is set to take the stage. That's a familiar name and isn't that the real Scott Van Pelt on Sax? Wonder if she's related to Louis, nah. Well, who walks on stage singing I wanna be like you but Louis's daughter! That's just one night at the Carousel bar. Oh did I mention the place is haunted?
The Dorsey, Venetian Resort, Las Vegas
It was this or Oscars downtown. This baby' is tucked away in the Venetian, with a back bar called the library. Where were you last night, umm the Library? Opened in 2016 looks like it was opened in 1916 dark with a mix of leather and velvet furniture a place to pull in for 1 Burbon 1 Scotch and 1 beer!!!
